PAMANA TALKS – Arte Negrense: The Negros Museum as Hub of Local Arts

The Negros Museum opened its doors in 1996, primarily serving as Negros Occidental’s provincial museum. Housed in Bacolod’s historic neoclassical capitol building built in 1925, the museum is unique as museums go because it does not focus on precious artifacts, but instead makes innovative use of original contemporary artworks as well as quality reproductions to tell the story of Negros. The Negros Museum is the first in the Philippines curatorially conceived without focus on precious artifacts, but instead on the complex stories and people whose lives make up the stories.

Grupo Kalinangan is proud to have Ms. Tanya P. Lopez, Executive Director of the Negros Museum, to tell us about the museum’s artworks and the stories behind the works of the Negrense artists. She will also give us stories of how the museum has helped create a strong infrastructure for the presentation and growth of local art and crafts. This webinar is on Friday, February 26, 2021, 6:30pm-8:00pm, and shall be streamed via Facebook Live and on our official Grupo Kalinangan Youtube channel.

Registration to the webinar is free, and all registered participants shall receive a Certificate of Participation upon submission of the feedback form after the webinar. Limited seats only. You may also make a donation to Grupo Kalinangan as part of your registration. Your donation will help us continue our drive and mission to promote and preserve our Philippine culture and heritage. We thank you for your continued support!
