PAMANA TALKS – mASAEANaPH: Towards the Understanding, Analysis and Conservation of Modern Filipino Architecture

Filipino modern architecture has become an emerging topic of concern in Philippine heritage conservation. Many of the 20th century architecture that comprises post-war, international modern and brutalist architecture in the Philippines, particularly in Metro Manila and other major cities, are yet to be fully recognized as cultural properties by law, but shall soon fit the description due to their significance in urbanization of the metropolis. The University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture has recently concluded its 2021 Roundtable and Colloquium with various agencies and foundations to help students in deepening their understanding and appreciation of Filipino modern architecture. Grupo Kalinangan has invited Ar. Caryn Paredes-Santillian to discuss the recent mASEANa Workshop. She will share with us in particular how it was organized and received by the students; the methodologies that they used and the initial results of their analyses. She will also discuss the various challenges to the conservation of modern architecture in the Philippines.

This webinar is on Friday, May 21, 2021, 6:30pm-8:30pm, and shall be streamed via Facebook Live and on our official Grupo Kalinangan Youtube channel.

Registration to the webinar is free, and all registered participants shall receive a Certificate of Participation upon submission of the feedback form after the webinar. Limited seats only.

You may also make a donation to Grupo Kalinangan as part of your registration. Your donation will help us continue our drive and mission to promote and preserve our Philippine culture and heritage. We thank you for your continued support!
