The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has officially renewed the Grupo Kalinangan, Inc. (GKI)’s affiliation to its Local Historical Committees Network (LHCN) for another three years.

The LHCN is a segment of NHCP that monitors, coordinates, supports, and, upon approval of the NHCP Board, affiliates various local historical bodies engaged in the collection, documentation, popularization, conservation, restoration, and preservation of extant historical materials found in different parts of the Philippines.

Volunteers and officers of GKI participated in the 6th LHCN General Assembly held in Baler, Aurora on 28-30 June 2019, where the where the renewed affiliation and a certificate of membership was formally awarded.

During the said assembly, GKI was also selected to be part of the Technical Working Group in drafting the consolidated Three-Year Action Plan of LHCN for the commemorations of the National Quincentennial in 2021. The plan was unanimously ratified by LHCN members.

The assembly also coincided with the commemoration of Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day on 30 June 2019 which featured a program at the Baler Church grounds, attended by the NHCP, the Spanish Embassy, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
