Local governments in the Philippines experience many challenges in the face of various threats and hazards, which almost always pose negative impact to the tourism sector. While there are efforts to revitalize local tourism amid natural and man-made disasters, cultural heritage in its tangible and intangible forms are often overlooked as assets that have very huge potential to contribute to the rehabilitation and development of society and culture.
Grupo Kalinangan, in partnership with Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP), will hold a free one-day webinar titled “Utilizing Cultural Heritage for Tourism Recovery” on Thursday February 3, 2022. This webinar aims to present local cultural heritage as a tool for tourism recovery, which is a very timely subject in the current COVID-19 pandemic. Lectures on identifying stakeholders in cultural heritage, case studies, and recommendations for utilization of local cultural assets will further broaden the understanding and perspective of tourism workers and stakeholders, with the hope of maximizing its local cultural assets for positive tourism development.
Target audience for this webinar includes LGU tourism officers and staff, members of local culture and arts councils, heritage advocates and practitioners. This webinar will be done via Zoom. Attendees shall receive the Zoom webinar details via a separate e-mail upon successful registration, as well as an e-Certificate of Participation upon completion of the webinar.
